Dee provided consultancy services for our Parish Council. Her guidance through the whole process was clear, easy to follow and thorough. She provides excellent support which has
been invaluable.
Dee started working with the Berkeley Hotel in June 2014 to provide Water Management and Legionella Control Services .
During the time Dee was with us, she adapted to the Berkeley's requirements and empathised with the teams and operational needs. This was helpful in building a full rapport with the team. Her time keeping was never questioned and the work she provided was to a high standard and delivered
on time.
We requested Dee’s services for Legionella Awareness Training last year and in recent months, due to concerns regarding the quality of the water at The Sports Pavilion, have again engaged with her to obtain advice.
It was a difficult few weeks but with the sound advice from Dee the parish council managed to remove itself from High Risk and control the situation. Dee offers realistic pricing to make sure the council complied to the regulations of Legionella ACoP HSG 274 and continues to give advice and annual audits to Council. I would recommend Dee in helping other organisations with water management and legionella control.
I was referred to Dee Thornton in 2016 by Woking Football Club. Dee came to our site and clearly explained what was required to comply with the law on Legionella LB ACoP and the water management of buildings.
Dee continues to give advice and annual audits to Old Basing Parish Council and I would recommend her highly in helping other organisations with water management.
Dee Thornton started working with The Connaught Hotel in January 2019 to provide Water Management and Legionella Control Services and to facilitate and advice on the implementation of the compliance of Legionella Control LS ACoP HSE requirements.
Over the 4 months Dee carried out a number of tasks and immediately built relationships with the appropriate service providers as well as members of staff. During her time at the Connaught Dee took her time to understand the staff and the obstacles and operational needs within hospitality. She worked as a team member where appropriate. Her communication skills between all of the staff was excellent. The work she provided was to a high standard.
I first met Dee whilst attending a training course on Water Compliance and Legionella Control. I was a little daunted about the responsibility of water compliance and legionella before I attended the course, but Dee explained it all in a clear, understandable way. After understanding the requirements on the Council, we contracted Dee to carry out a Legionella Water Risk Assessment on the Town Hall. Dee arrived promptly, explained the Council’s responsibility clearly, and showed us how to carry out and record the required testing.
The risk assessment was sent to us within a few days and Dee called to see if we had any queries. Since then, Dee has carried out the risk assessments for the public toilets that we took over and the new sports pavilion.
Dee explains things clearly and at a level we can understand. She answers queries promptly, and keeps us up to date.
Dee Thornton has consistently supported Homewood School, playing a crucial role in
helping us meet our compliance standards for water management and Legionella control over
an extended period.
Through her efforts, Homewood School has successfully attained Legionella compliance,
despite the significant challenge posed by its expansive campus, comprising over 2000
students across 17 buildings, including two additional primary and infant schools.
Throughout this process, Dee has demonstrated proactive measures, implementing stringent
procedures to address any concerns regarding Legionella Pneumophila without disrupting
daily operations for staff and students. The associated costs to complete these tasks have
remained reasonable.
Among the services provided to Homewood School and myself have been as follows:
Dee facilitated Legionella risk assessments and audits, conducted Legionella awareness training, and identified maintenance and remedial work requirements, ensuring swift implementation
where necessary. Her reports provided clear insights into outcomes and completed actions,
accompanied by recommendations to eliminate unnecessary appliances, thereby reducing
annual costs and manpower requirements.
In light of her exemplary contributions, I confidently recommend Dee Thornton for any school seeking independent Legionella expertise.
Dee was recommended to Southbourne Parish Council in May of 2021, to help the parish to complete the New Homes Bonus projects for the communities in the area.
The brief that she was given was quickly grasped and she immediately developed relationships with the stake holders of the Parish Council to be able to get the project going. There was only a small window of opportunity that the council had before the application dates would close and we were keen to bring new life into the community and generate and refresh areas for the use
of the residents.
Dee made sure that everyone was included in understanding the progress of the projects and worked tirelessly involving, service providers, tradesmen, highways authorities, county councils and other influencers. The projects were completed on time, within budget and the council have now implemented the first project much to the delight of the residents.
We received an email from Dee highlighting the importance of water testing and compliance in a public building and decided to contact her to provide legionella awareness training. It also became apparent that we would need a risk assessment completed for the building so that we could ensure a robust testing and flushing routine was established. Initially I planned to complete this myself, as I have a strong background in completing risk assessments. Having spoken to Dee on the phone by this point her expertise in this field was obvious so I decided that it was going to be worth while to ask Dee to also complete the risk assessment following the training she provided.
The training was given to myself, Estate Manager for Princes Risborough Town Council, and our caretaker for the community centre. It was completed to a very good standard with explanations given throughout. After the training was given Dee then carried out the risk assessment, with the caretaker and I observing. This was of great value as Dee talked us through how to carry out testing and flushing once the risk assessment report had been completed, the risk assessment was easy to understand and allowed us to put together a robust testing routine.
We also asked Dee to carry out a test of our drinking water, which highlighted an issue. Dee was supportive and helped us through the process of sorting out the problem and ensured we had the advice and recommendations we needed.
I would highly recommend Dee Thornton’s services.
We first heard about Dee via an email and as we have two sports pavilions and other areas open to the general public, we realised that our legionella knowledge was probably not as good as it
could be!
I contacted Dee who arranged some training for us on-line and to be honest, we were amazed at how much we didn’t know.
Following the training we employed Dee to carry out the Risk Assessments. Dee offered a friendly and efficient service, both on-line and in person. We opted for the in person approach and Dee held our hand through the whole process. Following her visit the testing and reports arrived in a timely manner and Dee followed up emails with a phone call to check we were happy and understood the information.
All in all, an excellent service. I can thoroughly recommend Dee.
